I've made my decision...
by Jeff1 ini've only made one topic post prior to this one and for the past two months i've been reading practically everyone's posts.
im not one to rush into anything so when i found out about the arc, multiple lawsuits, keeping pedophiles hidden, and 587 bc being the actual date jerusalem fell i decided to research everything myself.
i've always admired the beroeans as they made it their aim to research and see if the things they heard were true.

Glad to hear that Jeff. Good luck with your plans!
Many of the things we learned as JWs are very valuable in life, like :
1. Honest
2. Diligence
3. Making sure of all things
4. Family values
But as Jesus warned regarding the Pharisees, “do as they say and not as they do”

Jehovah’s Witness who posted criticisms on Reddit can remain anonymous, judge rules
by Tameria2001 inhttps://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/article/jehovah-s-witness-who-posted-criticisms-on-13855357.php.
i had this article pop up about the darksilver case.
it says a federal magistrate in san francisco has now ruled that darksilver can remain anonymous but then it says except for identification to lawyers for the religion’s watchtower publication.

Me: A good lawyer could have baited the judge into asking Polidoro if its true that people are disfellowshipped for no longer believing that the WT is God's Sole Channel of Communication on earth. It would have been awesome to get Polidoro's answer to that question on record.
Simon: Good for who? It would do absolutely nothing for the case as it's little to do with religious freedom and everything to do with copyright.
It has little to do with neither. I don't think anyone gives a flip about some chart that DS posted. The copyright case is an excuse to out an insider critic embedded deep within Watchtower because he no longer believes their prophetic claims.
The trap the WT set could easily be turned around so that they fall into it themselves. There is an opportunity here. The anonymous identity issue that Darkspilver is raising isn't his real issue just as the copyright issue isn't the real issue for the Wt.
The real issue is that if a person no longer believes that the Watchtower is God's sole channel of communication on earth, they must be required to say goodbye to all of their family and friends if they wish to exercise this freedom of thought. The public and the legal system is mostly unaware of this and this is the whipping stick the WT seeks to protect with this action.
Once that is exposed publicly, or if we get the WT to outright lie about their God-like claims, EITHER WAY WE WIN. Then everyone is that much closer to the day when the cost analysis to the WT may encourage them to abandon this hideous thought-crime punishment, hence making "copyright infringement" (wink, wink) unnecessary.
The fact is, that an American digital media company believes that they alone are God's Sole Channel of Communication on earth and any who disagrees with them (especially those brought up in it) are punished with the severest form of emotional and psychological abuse - banishment from family and friends.
THAT IS THE ISSUE HERE. Both the need for anonymity and "copyright infringement" problems disappear once freedom is restored. -

The most disturbing part for me was the discussion about disfellowshipping between the judge and Polidoro. She asked if people were casually disfellowshipped (or something to that effect) of if there was a process. Polidoro said, "yes, there is a process". Amazingly, the judge seemed impressed that there was. Polidoro then goes into a fake example of someone stealing. He said that if after trying to restore a person from stealing, they would have to disfellowship him if he wanted to continue stealing. What a load of goose butter. No one gets df'd for stealing I'm sure.
Why didn't he tell her about the thousands who have been shunned for thought crimes like not believing the GB is the sole spokesman for God on earth?
Why not tell her that even if a person just tries to fade away they are still shunned?
Why not tell her that though-control inquisitions are routinely held for the sole purpose of determining if a person still believes their god-like prophetical claims or not? And, if they don't - their loved ones are prohibited from seeing them lest they too get df'd. ?
The attorney for Darkspilver was weak in my opinion. You don't go to a gun fight with a knife. He needed a bigger (and probably more expensive) lawyer. She at least needs to read some testimonies from those like us who have been shunned for thought crimes.

Does anyone have an address for this judge? I'd really like to write her a letter too. I think we all should.
She should hear some testimony on the shunning "process" that this judge was so impressed with.
The Papacy had an elaborate disfellowshipping process at one time too - burn at the stake anyone who dared disagree with their authority.

What ever happened to suffering for righteousness sake? And what Stillin said above?
I guess we already know that the WT likes to fool around with the wild beast on occasion like they did in the secret UN involvement. Apparently one-night stands are allowable on occasion. -

Another thing I would add is that there are 1000's of different Christian denominations. All these sects claim to be the one true religion.
I wouldn't add that. This is what we were taught by the WT, but almost all Christians of many different denominations will tell you just the opposite.
The New Covenant that JESUS offered wasn't with a religion, it was with individuals who may find themselves in any number of the tens of thousands of Christian groups around the world.
In fact, exclusivity is one of the prime identifying characteristics of a cult.

The judge is making a distinction between the "local congregation" and Watchtower. Polidoro feeds this illusion and keeps saying that he needs to share everything with his "forensics team" - that is the Watchtower. (They really believe they are some kind of Law Enforcement agency)
He then tries to draw a parallel between Universal Studios and Watchtower. Universal Studios doesn't destroy people's lives when they exercise their constitutional right of Free Speech.

Did anyone catch the point that the Watchtower is no longer a publishing company but is now a digital media company? Will publishers now be called "digital outlets" or some other robotic term?

Exactly dubstepped,
JW's do not integrate into a society. Like the Muslims they have their own form of Sharia Law with their own form of Taqiyya:
There are several forms of lying to non-believers that are permitted under certain circumstances [in Islam], the best known being taqiyya (the Shia name). These circumstances are typically those that advance the cause of Islam - in some cases by gaining the trust of non-believers in order to draw out their vulnerability and defeat them.
JW's make up their own rules and then simply declare that they "must obey God (WT) as ruler rather than men."
Does anyone really think that a JW will honor the dictates of a worldly judge over the wishes of their Watchtower god if told not to? To do so would bring their destruction at armageddon in their mind.

Darkspilver’s concerns stem largely out of his fear that those in his congregation will discover his identity and shun him. If Reddit reveals Darkspilver’s identity to Watch Tower’s counsel, under an “attorney’s eyes only” restriction, then any harm to Darkspilver would be alleviated.
Complete pie in the sky nonsense. And if (when) they do get his identity and disfellowship him, what is the recourse? Sue the attorneys? They have free litigation indefinitely where poor darkspilver will have to spend untold sums to seek:
1. proof that they somehow leaked (which they will)
2. compensation for NEVER being able to see his family again.
How do you put a price on that.? You simply cannot put a price on some things. There is no way to get that back even if he was to extract a settlement out of the WT & their attorneys.
I guess I'm a superstitious man. I worry that unfortunate accidents might start happening to this attorney and possibly members of the GB when they break the peace.
